I recently had a customer of mine ask if I could create a case design for them, based on an eye, so I whipped up this little scifi-eye beauty using my iPad and the results were pretty good.
The same basic concept was there from photoshop, edit layer, add layer, merge layer, but obviously this had to be achieved in other ways. Not too bad a result considering this was put together while out and about using free apps.
I think the key element here is creative ingenuity, being forced to find new ways to do old things with new tools not necessarily designed to work a specific way. Using the tool backwards may cause a new tool to be created.
This is the moment in my opinion, that a new way of doing things is really starting to emerge from the tablet world, no doubt- if successful, eventually rolling out into the mainstream as the standard way to do things.
Microsoft have already jumped the gun and tried to create a touch screen friendly OS, which no doubt will have value and serve as another great platform for developers, but until we know exactly which tools will be creatively used in new ways, it’s going to be tricky to know what tools they will be.
It will be interesting to see
